One recent acknowledgement of their efforts was made at the recent SITE Congress in Barcelona, where Dragonfly received one of only nine SITE Crystal Awards. On behalf of BMW North America, Dragonfly was recognised for the “Most Outstanding Catered Event on an Incentive Programme”. In the face of numerous obstacles, Dragonfly successfully hosted a gala banquet dinner, on a par with glamorous events held in far more user-friendly destinations, at a remote clearing deep in the African bush. More than 240 participants were wined and dined in an opulent bedouin tent set up in pristine, big five game country, and serenaded by the myriad sounds of the African bush – beetle symphonies, the roar of lion and the cackle of hyenas close by. Despite the remote location, a five-course hot meal was served to all participants, utilising special insulation equipment. Staff from five separate private game camps were involved to co-ordinate the synchronised meeting and all of this, a complete surprise to the participants.

A pioneering event on a similar scale involved chartering large jet aircraft for the first time, into the airport at Sun City, situated in the Pilansberg National Park. Up until this specially arranged charter, the largest aircraft to land at Sun City were much smaller 32-seater aircraft. Dragonfly moved a group of 600 participants effortlessly from Cape Town to Sun City, utilising Boeing 737 aircraft.

In a similar vein, Dragonfly was the first incentive operator to successfully charter a large group internationally into the new Kruger Mpumalanga Airport.
