Which unnamed venue let a cleaner wash the floor five minutes before guests arrived to an event and had the warning sign in a position that couldn’t be seen as the general manager of Hancock Events, Pamela Wheat, headed towards the lift? Well, we’re not going to tell you. What we will say though is that Pamela’s slip resulted in having two pins inserted in her wrist, not to mention the inconvenience an accident of this nature has caused. Pamela had her wrist bandaged so she could complete the event before heading to hospital for the complete procedure.

Not sure whether this one is a thumbs up or a thumbs down, but a word of warning to those considering a career in Bahrain: you’d better be on your best behaviour or you might see your photograph in the local paper, as Mr Challappan Pillai Kurup may have discovered recently. The NOTICE said Mr Challappan, an Indian national, was no longer employed by the Bahrain Convention & Exhibition Bureau (BCEB) and was no longer authorised to represent the company in any form. The notice even included Mr Challappan’s passport number, presumably just to make doubly sure that there was no mistaken identity.
We don’t often give praise to event organisers for fear of being seen to be favouring one over another but we can’t let the behind-the-scenes efforts of Off-Site Connections Event Management prior to Tourism Australia’s Dreamtime “Crystal Rainforest” dinner on the Gold Coast go unnoticed. With steady rain all day Off-Site’s Peter Kinnane and his team were fighting rising water, threatening to flood the marquee. Apparently some heavy earthmoving equipment was called in to help stem the flow. Some of the more impressive outdoor lighting options had to be axed because of the inclement weather. Nevertheless the finished product, food, and entertainment were first rate, with delegates thoroughly impressed (and none the wiser about any pre-event challenges).
