The run-up to Australia’s newest business events exhibition is now on, as Sydney unveils plans to put the “sparkle” into events at the inaugural Australian Events Expo, May 16-17, 2007.

The Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau and its exhibition partner ETF have released details of what promises to be a dynamic new show on the Australian events scene, offering “More to Discover” for exhibitors and visitors alike.

New features include an expanded hosted buyer program bringing buyers from overseas, a boosted seminar program and a series of new themed exhibitor sites to create excitement on the show floor.
To be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Australian Events Expo is the first national events exhibition staged in Australia’s meetings capital. It replaces the SCVB’s long-running trade show Sydney on Sale, taking its best elements to the national stage.

SCVB Managing Director Jon Hutchison said the national format would attract fresh ideas and new buyers.
“Going national means new products, services, destinations and bureaus from around the country, which in turn will attract new visitors,” Mr Hutchison. “We’ll match that new content with a series of new and exciting features surrounding the event and on the floor.”
The expanded hosted buyer program will involve 50 qualified buyers from around Australia and Asia, including buyers from China and Hong Kong for the first time.
New features on the floor include a Showtime Stage offering entertainment and visual creations, the Taste – Live Theatre Kitchen where caterers and restaurants will showcase their skills, and a Pamper indulgence zone for relaxing experiences like massages and tarot readings.

The Australian Events Expo will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 16 and 17, 2007. For more information and bookings phone Sara Donnarumma at ETF on 02 9556 7990.
