The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has again set the benchmark as Asia’s most technologically advanced and purpose-built facility for international conventions, exhibitions, conference and private functions. As a part of the Centre’s AUD1.09M (RM3M) additional investment in audio-visual (AV) capabilities, services have been further advanced with the investment of the top-end lighting console from Australia, Jands Vista T4 (Vista). The console is the first in Malaysia and one of only 150 Vistas in the world. According to the Centre’s AV consultant, Mr Ian Blackburn, “This ‘one-of-a-kind’ lighting console integrates sound and lighting by performing many different tasks at the touch of a tablet pen.” As the Vista allows pre-programming while reducing co-ordination time between the sound and lighting technicians, it guarantees perfect synchronisation between sound and lighting movements. With just the touch of a button, lighting and music will be cued to start or change at the exact moment, automatically. Mr Blackburn said that as there are many variables and opportunities for human interface involved in perfecting the sound and lighting elements for an event, the Vista is very much welcomed to reduce dependency on people and thus, avoid failure due to human error which will create a seamless user experience while enhancing the event.

The Centre has developed eight different themes; Jazz, Rock, Hollywood, Cityscape, Futuristic, Nature, Malaysiana and Tropical Forest. “In a nutshell, the ready availability of everything that goes into a themed gathering makes for a much faster and more efficient way of personalising an event. Be it a conference, product launch, fashion show, cocktail reception or concert, the desired effect can be guaranteed,” said Mr Blackburn.

Mr Adam Mather-Brown, director of operations expands, “In addition to greatly reducing client’s time, since less time is required to rehearse the pre-programme sound and lighting movements, the savings from the production of the new stage backdrops and props mean we can channel the money saved back to the client, therefore reducing their budget. We strongly encourage our clients and staff to re-use the backdrops and props where possible, in line with the Centre’s green campaign titled “3R Campaign – Reduce, Re-use and Recycle” which aims to increase awareness among staff and visitors alike on the importance of environmental protection and sustainability.

To sum it all up, Australian General Manager, Mr Peter Brokenshire, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre said, “A client’s success is our success. Thanks to the Vista, every event at the Centre can be unique in its own right.”
