The event, held from October 10 to 12, at the Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall (PEACH) saw plenty of business being undertaken by buyers and sellers, with the small Australian contingent believing the cost of exhibiting was generally worth it.

Again combined with the Corporate Travel World exhibition and conference, IT&CMA is now in its 14th year.

Part of the event is now the Annual Travel Awards 2006 ceremony and gala dinner, which celebrated its 17th year in 2006.

TTG Asia “unveiled” 62 winning organisations at this year’s awards in four categories - Travel Agents Awards, Travel Suppliers Awards, Outstanding Achievement Awards and the Travel Hall of Fame Awards. One of the highlights at this year’s event was the further expansion of the Travel Hall of Fame with a new member. Only organisations which have won an award in the TTG Travel Awards at least 10 times qualify for esteemed induction into this elite family. Singapore Airlines, Singapore Changi Airport (both inducted in 2002) and Hertz Asia-Pacific (inducted in 2005) are honoraries in the Travel Hall of Fame. In 2006 Royal Cliff Beach Resort joined these companies in the Travel Hall of Fame.

The event was held in style at the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel’s Siam Ballroom. Business event related awards went to Emirates (Best Airline – Business Class); Best Western New Seoul Hotel (Best Mid-Range Business Hotel); St Regis Hotel Beijing (Best Business Hotel); Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore (Best Meetings & Conventions Hotel); Shanghai (Best BT MICE City); HK Convention & Exhibition Centre (Best Convention & Exhibition Centre); and Thailand Convention Bureau (Best Convention Bureau).

ABOVE: Signalling the start to the 2006 event was a performance by the exotic dance performers. No firm dates have been set for IT&CMA in 2007.
