NAME: Miami-inspired Christmas party
TYPE: Cocktail party
THEME: Miami Vice
BY: Harbours Edge Event Centre, Cuisine Group and Belle-Laide Events
NO. ON ORGANISING TEAM: 6
VENUE: Harbours Edge Event Centre
PAX: 950
BUDGET: TOP SECRET

WHAT YOU DID:
Harbours Edge worked with a large client committee to cater for everyone’s concerns, requests and needs – this was integral in the success of the event. Really taking their input onboard was important to the Harbours Edge Event Centre staff. Executive chef Adam Dundas-Taylor designed a canapé menu to provide a range of flavours and balance between delicate and substantial menu items. Fun and colourful desserts included miniature ice creams and a decadent chocolate fountain station.

SPECIAL TOUCHES: Miami vice theme. Miami in the 80’s was all about excess, so some of the venue décor inclusions were dramatic and in some areas extremely colourful. Cool in neon colours, pastels and slick white, organisers believed that this theme was extremely well received by the guests on the night. They certainly embraced it with the dress code!

Pastel colors naturally dominated the venue. The superb and soft LED light pastel shade effects worked well within Harbours Edge and certainly enhanced the overall look of the evening.
The client’s Christmas club committee manned the door and guest list in true 80’s VIP club style. The red carpet was replaced for an even more quirky and cool set-up of artificial grass lawns, kenita palms and a white picket fence, and will be best remembered for the flock of pink flamingo statues.
The decor was an eclectic mix of old world elegance and sophisticated high-tech with brilliant intelligent lighting being thrown around the venue.

Undoubtedly the Indulgence Bar, which Harbours Edge worked on with Belle-Laide Events, was a standout, with chocolate fountains flowing and decadent dipping condiments including oreo cookies, marshmallows, nougat, Turkish delight and beautiful seasonal fruits held in classic oversized martini glasses. It was hard to wipe the smiles off people’s faces! Harbours Edge, set in Miami Vice, provided everyone with their own little piece of paradise.

CLIENT’S COMMENT:
“Wow, what can I say, you guys really did put on a stand-out event. It was such a fantastic night and I really do think you showcased Harbours Edge Event Centre and Cuisine Group catering to that high standard you set out to achieve. The response from the committee is that the feedback has been outstanding.” - Event social club coordinator
