NAME:
Castrol Lubricants 2008 National Conference
CLIENT: BP Australia-Castrol Lubricants
BY: Castrol & Radisson Resort events team
NO. ON ORGANISING TEAM: The conference organising committee consisted of five people and a number of off-site suppliers
PAX: 162
BUDGET: TOP SECRET

WHAT YOU DID: This event spanned four days incorporating conferencing, on-site dinners and team-building activities. Delegates were welcomed with a surprise ‘thank you’ night at the clubhouse overlooking the Palm Meadows Golf Course with roving performers and confetti cannons, feasting on scrumptious international foods, with chocolate and beverage fountains. The three days of conferencing, themed ‘What’s winning in your world’ showcased amazing lighting and sound effects in the Masters Ballroom and incorporated both plenary and breakout sessions.

Special guest appearances from Castrol sponsored celebrities such as Adam Gilchrist, V8 driver, Steven Richards, drag racing champions Victor and Ben Bray, and paraplegic wheelchair athlete, John Maclean.

The group had an ‘Amazing Race’ team-building activity hosted by Over the Edge, which had delegates running all over the resort and competing in team challenges.

The Casino Royale ‘007’ gala awards dinner saw service staff dressed in black tie, and the night finished with a surprise casino fun night hosted by Action Events, with delegates crowding around the tables to place a bet with fun money.

There was also a surprise performance by Raw Metal (tap dancers) at the start of the gala dinner who got everyone into a fun mood for the evening.

The event concluded on the last day with a spectacular precision drum performance by all of the delegates, which was a team-building exercise hosted by Human Rhythms.

SPECIAL TOUCHES: Each event had it own special touches. John Maclean speaking to the delegates about his life was a highlight.

CLIENT’S COMMENT: “The outstanding overall success of this year’s national conference was indeed due to a lot of hard work by Castrol staff, the Castrol event team and the Radisson Resort’s fantastic banquets and conference staff.”
