The events industry is now aware of Hamilton Island’s “luxurious side” with the opening of qualia on the secluded northern tip of the island. qualia opened in October last year and has sent a ripple through the high-end incentive market, already playing host to a number of sole use incentive groups from the pharmaceutical, motor and financial industries. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
Following the opening of the golf course in 2009, another amazing facility is set to open. The Hamilton Island Yacht Club (featured in the golf course images on the cover) will provide guests with an indoor/outdoor restaurant & bar jutting over the marina; members-only level complete with private restaurant, bar and reading room; wellness facility with state-of-the-art gymnasium, indoor lap pool and saunas; cellar dining room and three conference venues to add to the already existing 10 on Hamilton Island.
Hamilton business tourism manager, Julie Ford, says “not only will we have added facilities with the golf course and conference facilities at The Hamilton Island Yacht Club, but we are always looking to add to our range of experiences for the delegates including new themed dinner and group activity options.”
This year Hamilton Island has introduced a new range of inclusive themed dinners to more than 10 unique dining experiences already existing. New themes include Barefoot & Bubbles on Catseye Beach, M*A*S*H and Buggy Drive-in Movies!
“We have many conference groups that come back year after year and loyal clients putting Hamilton Island forward for new conference business so we are always looking to give them new experiences for delegates to enjoy and to quote on,” explains business tourism manager, Justine Salame.
With the adding of the new facilities to the island, the existing ones have not been forgotten. The four-star Reef View Hotel, the main conference choice, will complete a stunning refurbishment in August 2008 seeing all 382 rooms transformed. The five-star Beach Club is set to follow when it closes for work in July 2008 for a few weeks.
There is true dedication to quality from the Oatley Family, proud owners of Hamilton Island and the business tourism industry are certainly going to benefit.
