Our industry professionals are constantly on the lookout for new and inspiring venues, with many enduring “surveillance missions” to find the perfect (and different) venue for their often fussy clients who have usually “been there and done that”.
A group of Australian PCOs, event planners and incentive practitioners recently discovered qualia (pronounced Kwah-lee-ah) and welcomed this latest addition into the Australian incentive and corporate arena!
Set on the secluded northern tip of Hamilton Island in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, qualia offers the most discerning clients a truly memorable luxurious experience with staff handpicked from five-star resorts and silver service restaurants in Melbourne and Sydney.
The qualia experience started the minute we stepped off the aircraft. There was no lining up to collect luggage – we handed our tags over to the qualia staff who delivered our baggage to our private pavilions in no time at all.
After a welcome cocktail in the Long Pavilion overlooking the Whitsunday Islands, we were taken to our private (free-standing) pavilions. There are 60 on offer with oversized sundecks or private infinity pools and all set among native eucalyptus trees. Views stretch beyond neighbouring islands over the clear blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. Also available is the luxurious and very private Beach House with its own full-size lap pool.
Beyond the wooden gate entrance, qualia has everything at your disposal: the qualia spa for an anti-aging/anti-stress, detoxifying and cleansing treatment; the gym, where you can work out with your own personal trainer; or for those who prefer their privacy, you can take a dip in your own infinity pool, soak in a bubble bath with a glass of bubbly, or watch one of the 150 in-room movies. Qualia is all about doing what you want to do, and doing it at your own pace.
The good news for the high-end corporate conference and incentive market is that qualia offers “sole use” of the entire facility and a rate that covers accommodation, all meals and non-alcoholic beverages. The ideal length of stay is said to be three nights with two recommended dinners within qualia, at Long Pavilion and Moonlight at Pebble Beach, and one night at leisure or a “dine around” in other Hamilton Island restaurants.
Long-time industry members know that people in this business don’t hold back when it comes to making a comment about something. Here’s what they had to say about qualia:
“qualia sets new standards in excellence and is the ultimate indulgence. I feel confident that I now have a leading edge incentive product to take back into the marketplace”
- Michelle O’Donohoo – Sane Event Management
‘It’s time we started getting some investment in high-end product in this country and qualia certainly meets the specs. It is great to see the developments going on at Hamilton Island and the commitment by the Oatley family to the Australian hospitality market”
- Mike Tuzee - Impact Organisation
“qualia is simply stunning and offers the quality that our international clients expect.”
- Narelle Falting – Pan Pacific Incentives
“The property, the food, the service is an absolute stand out.”
- Nicole Johnson, CiEvents
