I don’t have to tell you that events are now an integral part of any marketing strategy, or that events can bring in millions of dollars to a town, city, region or country through direct spending and the all-important publicity that major events can generate.
For many years Australia’s meetings industry association – MEA – has been holding state and national awards for meeting and event management, with incredible success, and companies like ours have entered these awards, won a few, and used these wins to differentiate ourselves from our competitors and to give ourselves a pat on the back for a job well done.
In 2007, after plenty of discussions and planning we decided to launch the e-awards purely for the events industry in Australia.
As mentioned, events are a fast-growing segment of business and yet there are still many working in the corporate world who do not understand the benefits they have for the business and general community. By establishing a platform like the e-awards where great events are celebrated the aim is to “spread the word” to a wider audience who may, potentially, consider utilising more events in their day-to-day operations. We want to grow the special events pie and believe that creating the e-awards will help in achieving this aim.
The e-awards also gives business owners, marketers, corporates, and those working in the events industry a tangible opportunity to receive recognition for the hard work they do.
Further, it also gives them the opportunity to give thanks to their staff, associates and clients.
I urge you to enter the e-awards. The deadline is the end of March and we have elected an independent judging panel to ensure that winners are selected fairly and on merit. Winners will be announced at RSVP 08 in Sydney.
Turn to page 60 for further information on the e-awards, or visit www.mice.net.au and download an application form.
I can be contacted on the email address below if you have questions, concerns, or are just plain confused.
And best of luck!
