Full-time students studying an event management course at a recognised institution in Australia in 2007 were eligible to enter the Rising Star Award for Excellence, with an announcement of the winner made in late November.
The Rising Star 2007 Award for Excellence is open to students at colleges and universities offering meeting and event management training, using Amlink Technologies’ eventsPro software, with a $5000 prize for the winning essay on “Using eventsPro in an industry-related work environment, making comparisons to manual processes and the advantages that eventsPro provides in managing events.”
In 2007 Amlink Technologies awarded 10 students $3000 scholarships as part of the Rising Star Program – part of a $100,000 cash commitment by Amlink to help raise the standard of event management in Australia.
Managing director of Amlink Technologies, Trevor Gardiner, said there is a significant shortage of well trained and motivated young people in the events management sector.
“Event management is certainly becoming a popular career choice, but it’s clear Australia needs to develop smarter and more innovative people to take this industry forward,” he said.
“We were delighted with the quality of the applicants [we received in the Rising Star Program] and deciding the successful scholarship winners was quite a challenge.
“The Amlink Rising Star Program is designed to help our clients get the most from their people and hopefully result in even more committed people following an event management career path.” For further details about the program visit www.amlinkevents.com. Mice.net magazine will announce the winner of the Award for Excellence in its February 2008 edition.
