Nobu opens in Melbourne
Nobu, the world’s most recognised Japanese restaurant brand known for its
innovative Japanese cuisine, is now open at Crown Entertainment Complex. This is the first Nobu restaurant in Australia and the 19th Nobu restaurant in the world, including Matsuhisa and Ubon restaurants. The original Nobu restaurant was established in New York in 1994 as a business partnership between celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa and his partners actor Robert De Niro, Hollywood film producer Meir Teper and managing partner Richie Notar. “We chose Melbourne as the destination of our first restaurant in Australia because of our strong relationships with James Packer, the owner of Crown Melbourne Entertainment Complex. In addition, the products in Australia and staffing (close proximity to Japan) are all contributing factors,” said Richie Notar, managing partner of Nobu.

Sofitel Wentworth $10m enhancement The historic Sofitel Wentworth Sydney has just unveiled its $10 million enhancement that introduces the elite Club Sofitel concept to Sydney and provides a landmark restaurant for the city’s first five-star hotel. Timed with a worldwide move to reposition the French-inspired Sofitel brand within the luxury hotel market, the Sofitel Wentworth Sydney was relaunched on September 18 to offer a whole new level of experiences and services. More than 100 rooms and luxury suites have been upgraded to Club Sofitel status, bringing Sofitel’s exclusive “hotel within a hotel” concept to Sydney after its debut in Melbourne and Brisbane. Created by Joseph Pang Design, the Club Sofitel provides a contemporary space in which guests can enjoy private breakfasts and all-day light dining, make use of the modern business facilities, or simply relax with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
