WHAT YOU DID: Off-Site Connections (OSC) had the task of showcasing Brisbane to the world in a series of events for international guests. This year’s event hosted by Brisbane spanned seven days highlighting Brisbane as a vibrant and innovative river city. Throughout the event, sellers and buyers visited the newly opened Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), feasted on the scrumptious delights offered by Pier Nine, and enjoyed a cold beer at the iconic Fox Hotel.

The spotlight however fell on Southbank for the largest of all the events with 2200 guests attending an outdoor evening with Brisbane’s city skyline as its backdrop. This dynamic evening concluded with a spectacular fireworks display over the river with delegates stating it was one of the most spectacular and well choreographed displays they had ever witnessed. Guests were also welcomed to lunches at the trade show every day with themes designed to capture the unique essence of the Queensland and Australian lifestyle and environment, from beach parties, to Priscilla the Queen of the Desert stage show performances.

SPECIAL TOUCHES: Each event had special touches which left guests with an amazing experience. At the Gallery of Modern Art, OSC erected a 12-metre-high truss arch for aerial performances on the lawn at the riverbank which guests viewed via the 18-metre-high glass wall at the end of the gallery.
For Eagle St. Pier OSC creatively designed transfers to avoid another bus. Guests were escorted from the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) by roving performers to Southbank Pier where they boarded Paddle Steamers for the rest of their journey. On arrival at their destination, guests were welcomed by 50 kayakers with lights in the river followed by amazing fire twirlers as they docked. As the signature event of the program the “White Night” at Southbank was a multitude of seamlessly presented entertainment acts, and lighting & staging spectaculars complete with fireworks display.

CLIENT’S COMMENT: The positive response we have received from our international guests has been overwhelming, and we couldn’t have done it without your support, professionalism and dedication.” – Anthony Hayes, acting chief executive officer, Tourism Queensland.
