One of our mice.net staffers asked us to give a thumb’s up to Eco Point Resorts this edition after they received a hand-written thank you letter after attending one of their events. “We get a lot of emails and phone calls but it’s nice to see that some people still like to use the good old pen!”
We know it’s not the norm, but to any organisation that is asking venue operators and suppliers to pay them to be placed on their preferred list – the list they then send to clients when pitching for business – STOP IT NOW! You are not providing your clients with a fair and true account of venue operators and suppliers and we hope that this practice will come back to bite you when you least expect it. See story page 4.
mice.net will be writing up its report on last month’s Motivation & Incentive Expo and Motivation in Business Summit in our next edition but we wanted to say that from early indications as a first-year show it went extremely well. There were in excess of 1000 visitors, and the majority of delegates were happy with the roll-up, considering this was the first time the event has been held. And while we’re at it, we’ve also heard good things about RSVP 07, held the week prior. A write-up about this event will also be appearing in our October edition.
To all those no-shows at Queensland and Northern Territory on Show in Melbourne (see story page 31). Congratulations…your acceptance to attend the event and then failure to turn up on the day has resulted in the end of this event. Exhibitors put hard-earned money and time into exhibiting at these events with expectations from organisers on how many people they can expect to see. The organisers in this instance were happy with pre-registrations and no doubt expected a good show, only to discover on the day that the number of people who said they were coming but didn’t materialise didn’t make for a very happy ending. A little professionalism folks!
Thank you to all those people who contacted mice.net after our story last edition on giving meeting and event planners a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work. Please keep up the feedback.
