The event was held at the RACV Centre in central Melbourne but fell short of a successful event in 2006 in which exhibitors were boasting strong business leads.

This time around there was a significant number of “no shows” from pre-registered attendees, prompting organisers Conference Works to cease planning for a 2008 event.
Conference Works’ Mark Richardson said while buyer attendance was poor, QNT on Show 2007 did have its strong points.

“[We had] strong support from those who exhibited, two great speakers and entertainment, and buyer feedback regarding the venue choice, as well as the cocktail party, were all positive,” he said.
“A tradeshow like this cannot run unless a high number of quality buyers can be attracted. With such an aggressive campaign put in place to attract buyers for QNT on Show 2007 the outcome was disappointing. Conference Works will not be running this trade show in 2008.”
Couran Cove Island Resort’s Tim Birley, said QNT on Show should have been a great show.
“But the mood in Melbourne that week was heavy due to the shooting of a good samaritan, and it was too cold to leave the office,” he said.
“The theme of the show was on Queensland and the Northern Territory, however, it was not a very tropically-themed show, with no real draw card to get the buyer there.
“I was able to catch up with a few attendees who I had not seen for a while. Few complained about parking issues in the city and the length of time it took to find a park, but loved the venue.
“I did get business from this show in 2006 - but nothing in 2007. June and July in 2007 had too many shows on in both Sydney and Melbourne, all after the same delegates.
“It was a well organised show that was hit by that Sydney and Melbourne mentality of registering for an event and then not turning up on the day.”
