What did you want to be when you grew up? A helicopter pilot (I didn’t feel the need for speed). Your first job: Communications intelligence operator – Royal New Zealand Navy. Your first pay packet: Not much in New Zealand dollars. Your first break: Joining the Avillion Hotel Sydney after the Ansett Australia collapse. Describe your current role: My main focus is on securing business for Star City in large scale residential conferences and gala events as well as working with organisations such as the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau (SCVB) to maximise opportunities around big Sydney events. The best part of your job: Being part of the 3000 strong staff here at Star City and with everything available under one roof, Star City is one of the most exciting conference and incentive destinations in Sydney. The worst: Explaining to my wife why I won’t be home for dinner again. Who has inspired you? My wife Sally, son Mitchell, Mr Joseph Skipps – Executive Director Reliance Pacific Berhad, Mr Brian McHenry – general manager Crowne Plaza Norwest Business Park. Your best quality: My easy going nature. Your worst quality: My easy going nature. Your best achievement: Being part of the peace keeping mission to Bougainville which saw the signing of the Endeavour Accord Treaty between the Bougainville Revolutionary Army & the Papua New Guinea government back in 1988.
