To date, more than $42 million has been spent on six new developments at Burswood Entertainment Complex, including The Astral which officially opened in June. The state-of-the-art, technologically-advanced ballroom features magnificent displays of lighting design via 15 custom-made, retractable chandeliers. The LED petals of the chandeliers mirror the stars to create a luminous myriad of special effects and infinite colour combinations. With 5.5-metre ceilings, seven retractable screens and innovative advancements, The Astral will attract corporate entities from around the globe.
Other significant developments include Botanical and Studio rooms in Burswood Convention Centre, premium dining and bar facilities in Yú restaurant, (A)LURE, Spice Lounge and the café at The Garden at Paddy’s.

$30 million alone was invested in Burswood’s world-class VIP gaming facility, The Pearl Room, which features opulent finishes of custom-designed carpets, mother of pearl tiles, imported sandstone and magnificent chandeliers hand-woven with 30,000 swarovski crystals.

Further investment will be seen in the next four years on a number of new projects including the main gaming floor of Burswood Casino and hotel suite upgrades in the luxurious InterContinental Perth Burswood, which will see the redevelopment of the Presidential Suite and two river suites to uber-chic apartment-style accommodation. The newly-refurbished rooms will feature hand-made silk carpets from Tibet, unique stone and marble finishes and exotic timber wall coverings.

The restaurant and bar portfolio will also expand with a New York-style late-night retreat called MINQ which is scheduled to open in August creating a new venue for Perth A-listers to indulge themselves in. Also a new sports bar, Carbon, will open in December with giant screens and sports coverage from around the globe.

The amount of investment at the complex supports the commitment PBL has shown to the state of Western Australia. Burswood Entertainment Complex continues to be an icon and more than 4.5 million people visit the complex each year. It is also the largest single site employer in the state with more than 3500 staff members.

With plenty more exciting developments planned for the future – the vision for Burswood Entertainment Complex is “world-class”.
