In conjunction with mice.net magazine, Townsville Convention Bureau recently hosted a buyer famil to showcase the region’s growing business events capabilities.

Participants spent four days exploring Townsville and Magnetic Island, enjoying luxury accommodation at Jupiters Hotel Townsville and in the brand new Mantra One Bright Point on Magnetic Island. The standard of catering exceeded expectations, as participants indulged in local cuisine prepared by five star chefs in a variety of dining locations.   Outdoor locations capitalised on Townsville’s idyllic climate, venues showcased their versatility, and tourism attractions such as Reef HQ Aquarium and Billabong Sanctuary showed that they can offer unique and cost effective themed functions.
Participants experienced Life in the Tropics for themselves with leisurely strolls among the locals on the waterfront Strand, and free time to swim or catch a nap in many of the scenic areas visited. Magnetic Island’s business events capabilities are growing and participants had the opportunity to conduct site inspections of existing and new venues such as Mantra One Bright Point and Peppers Blue on Blue. Support services such as ferry transfers, catering, event management and car hire are plentiful.  A mini moke team-building rally activity showcased the wide variety of activities available on “Maggie”, although the urge to ignore them all and relax in a secluded bay can prove irresistible!
