Everybody it seems, needs a massage, and finding the time in-between conference sessions appears to be one of the best periods in which time-poor executives have to really unwind.
Understanding this fact, many resorts here and around the world are paying particular attention to their spa facilities, providing their guests with yet another option for a little personal pampering.
They are especially valuable for the incentive market as well – those events where companies reward their valuable staff and customers for continuing to strive for the very best. And because many incentive-style experiences include partners, the spa is a haven of spouse programs.

But what do you choose when you’re planning your spa foray? A difficult questions, and one that is really up to each individual. We all have different wants and needs, and reading the fine print of each spa experience is a must. On the following pages are some examples of spas and spa offerings that we hope will give readers a little inspiration into pampering themselves:

Golden Door at Cypress Lakes
Cypress Lakes in the New South Wales Hunter Valley took the decision some time ago to call in the experts to run their spa facility, appointing The Golden Door to do just that. The entire complex has been designed with relaxation and wellness in mind. From the moment you arrive at The Golden Door you will be guided and cared for in the relaxation lounge where you can browse through the library, sip Golden Door herbal tea and start to unwind to the calming spa music prior to your scheduled treatment.

Cypress Lakes is a superb venue for meetings. The all new Event Centre allows the resort to operate residential conferences for up to 625 guests with comfort and ease. The Events Centre is elevated to nearly one metre above ground level in order to maximise views and light. The centre is ringed by a generous covered portico which also offers stunning views for delegates during breaks.
The Event Centre has been purpose-built with large events in mind. The Centre is fully air-conditioned and enjoys features such as a permanent lighting truss, vehicular access and soundproofing.

Cypress Lakes Resort’s Convention Centre, adjacent to the Event Centre, has the capacity to cater for up to 500 delegates theatre- style, or 280 guests banquet-style. The complex has the capability to divide into four smaller rooms of equal size, with a maximum capacity theatre-style of 100 delegates each.

Specialist corporate events and tour management company, The Whyte Group, has launched Thailand Spa and Wellbeing Treatment Tours.

Managing director, Barrie Whyte, says after many years developing and staging Asian golf tours and amateur golf tournaments for golfers and their non-golfing partners a niche market quickly began to evolve.

“Feedback from non-golfing partners was that they would like to have their own specifically designed women-only tours, where they could be pampered and made to feel special,” he says.
“These tours include spa and body treatments, Thai cooking classes and shopping.
