With the recent appointment of Mr Akapol Sorasuchart as President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, AACVB’s presidency remains with Thailand for 2010. The Vice Presidency is held by Singapore, with Macau taking the role of AACVB Secretary/Treasurer.
In order to fulfill its role in creating a unified platform for Asia’s MICE industry, AACVB has announced a new marketing plan and activities for 2010 to 2011.
Starting with the AACVB Annual Summit, it will from now on adopt the “Asia for Asia” theme as an annual event highlight. Asia for Asia is a joint initiative of TCEB and AACVB. The venue will be rotated among AACVB member countries, and ownership of the initiative will be officially transferred to AACVB at the 4th Asia for Asia event to be held in Bangkok on October 5, 2010. Asia for Asia is by itself the name of the meeting. The theme is changed according to the situation at hand such as professionalism, new vision, etc. It was originally a Thailand event which later became a joint TCEB, AACVB event and now fully transferred to AACVB. The 4th Asia for Asia will be held on the 4th of October, 2010.

It has also been agreed that the “Asia for Asia: Meetings Industry Leaders’ Summit” will be staged back-to-back with the AACVB Annual General Assembly, and so will also be rotated among the member countries. It is not a back-to-back event but an attached event to the AACVB annual general assembly.

Furthermore, several organisational changes at AACVB were also agreed. The next AACVB AGM will be held in October 2011 instead of the usual March, and with the conclusion of the work of several task forces, the AACVB Board of Directors has resolved to set up three new sub-committees:
1. Communication and Marketing (chaired by Singapore)
2. Membership (chaired by Hong Kong)
3. Asia for Asia (chaired by Thailand)
In order to enhance market intelligence for AACVB members, the Board of Directors will also hold internal meetings at all major tradeshows.
