Auckland's Rugby World Cup won't stop conferencing
Tourism Auckland CEO Graeme Osborne said there’s no doubt that the city has the capacity for convention and incentive groups during next year’s rugby tournament.
“There’s a perception in some circles that Auckland is full but that’s not the case. The business-end of the tournament may be tight, but for the most part there’s plenty of scope to host an event in a major Auckland venue,” he said.
And Auckland Convention Bureau manager Anna Hayward said it’s a prime time for organisers to get good conference deals.
“If clients have flexibility with dates they can expect competitive prices. Auckland will offer a compelling experience with refurbished products and a fantastic atmosphere – it’ll be a great time to be here,” she said.
Rugby World Cup 2011 kicks-off on September 9, 2011 with the semi-finals held on October 15 and 16, and the Final on October 23.
