Banyan Tree Bintan offers new taste sensations

After the introduction of four exclusive dining experiences in 2006, Banyan Tree Bintan, located on Bintan Island, one hour from Singapore, has upped the ante with two new specially-designed dining destinations. Reflection and Fisherman’s Table are the hotly-anticipated meal experiences now available to guests at Banyan Tree Bintan and Angsana Resorts and Spas Bintan. In addition, guests at Banyan Tree Bintan can now enjoy yoga breakfasts at One Degree North, a specially built rustic balau pavilion located in the heart of a mangrove beach area. The resorts are located less than one hour away by high-speed ferry from Singapore, making for an ideal romantic day or overnight sojourn. Reflection is a dramatic dinner experience hosted on the calm surface of the Rock Edge Pool at Banyan Tree Bintan. As dusk approaches, a magical floating platform is built over the pool to accommodate a private table for two, surrounded by reflections of majestic trees. Suffused by candlelight as the sun sets over the horizon, group can dine on an Asian-accented five-course continental degustation, with items such as steamed black cod with sabayon of Sumatran-red curry. Authentic seafood is the lure at Fisherman’s Table, a gastronomic beach destination. Fisherman’s Table is a spread of finely calibrated seafood specialties, which diners enjoy while seated in a traditional fisherman’s boat with the sand beneath their toes. The highlight is wok-fried chilli crab from Bintan’s mangroves served with bok choy, mango chutney and steamed jasmine rice. Visit www.banyantree.com for further details.
